FlockAim

An arcade game for iPhone

One shot. The whole flock.

Hold your phone up like a little window to the sky. Tip it to aim, tap to fire. Hit one bird and it tumbles into the next one. And the next one. And the next.

Coming soon to the App Store. Stage 1 is free.

A real FlockAim screen: birds crossing a dusk sky, the crosshair on one of them, and dashed gold lines showing where it would fall.
A real screen from the game. See the dashed gold lines? That's the chain your next shot would make.

Lesson one

Here's how you play. It takes about ten seconds to learn.

  1. Tilt

Dip the right edge of your phone and the crosshair slides right. Tip the top toward you and it climbs. That's the whole trick, really.

  2. Tap

Tap anywhere on the screen to fire. Anywhere at all! No button to find, so your eyes can stay on the birds. Shells are few, so make each one count.

  3. Chain

Now the fun part. A bird you hit falls, and it knocks down every bird it bumps on the way. Every link of a chain scores more than the last one.

A real FlockAim screen just after a chain: birds tumbling down and a gold CHAIN popup with the points it scored.

Don't like tilting? That's fine.

Turn on Drag to aim in Settings and slide a finger instead. You can change how fast the crosshair moves, too, and steady a wobbly hand with Smoothing.

The very first time you fly, the game walks you through all three steps, one little hint at a time.

Every fifth wave

Bosses don't care about your bullets.

Each stage ends with a big bird in armour, and your shots just bounce off it. So here's the plan: knock other birds down on top of it! Every boss has glowing weak points. A falling bird that lands on one breaks it. Break them all and down it goes.

  • Stage 1

    Dusk Warden

It guards the last light on the ridge.

  • Stage 2

    Fjord Sentinel

It keeps the northern lights from going out.

  • Stage 3

    Storm Herald

It rides the front in, and the wind obeys it.

  • Stage 4

    Marsh Matriarch

The reeds bow when she lifts from the water.

  • Stage 5

    Eclipse Tyrant

It swallowed the sun. Bring it back.

Know your birds

A tiny field guide to the flock

Every bird wears its own colour, and the colour tells you how it flies. Learn the four below and you're ready for anything.

  • Cyan

The everyday bird. Flies in smooth, steady arcs, so it's a lovely one to practise on.

  • Lime

Quick and fidgety. It zigzags across the sky, so aim a little ahead of it.

  • Heavy

Big, slow and stubborn. It shrugs off the first shot. A falling bird, though? That does the job in one.

  • Bats

They only come out in the cave. Same colours, same rules, but goodness, they flap fast.

Nine places to fly over

Every wave takes you somewhere new. Each stage has its own sky, from dusk to the northern lights to a sun gone dark, and its five waves visit five of these places.

  • Faceted mountain ridges and pine forests at dusk, with a river winding toward you.

  • Two waterfalls dropping off a tall cliff into a misty pool, under green northern lights.

  • Sheer granite walls and a domed peak above a valley of pines, in a stormy sky.

  • A road winding over rolling hills to a castle with towers and flags, at sunset.

The honest bit

Fair and square

Stage 1 is free, and it stays free. If you love it, one purchase opens the other four stages, every boss, the harder tiers and all the upgrades. You buy it once and it's yours.

No ads. No timers. No coins to buy. And the game doesn't collect anything about you. Not one thing. Here's the privacy page if you'd like to check.

  • Upgrades between waves. Pick one of three cards, like Ricochet Rounds or Slow Bloom, and every run plays a bit differently.
  • Four tiers. Easy, Normal, Hard and Hell. Same stages, sharper birds.
  • Stars and badges. Three stars on every stage, 20 badges to collect and a daily streak to keep.
  • Your rifle, your colours. Earn new paint as you play.
